NEW MEDIA FIRM OPENING IN COLLEGE PARK

Minority and Young Entrepreneur Owned Firm Opens Doors

College Park, Maryland, Jan 26, 2010-- Khan & Associates LLP is a new media firm opening its doors in College Park. Khan & Associates LLP's purpose is to consult clients on the use of New Media, Social Media, and Media 2.0 solutions in politics and in business. It is also one of the first new media consulting firms in Maryland to date. More than half the firm's principals are from minority backgrounds, and all are either recent college graduates or still enrolled in College. The grand opening and open house event is held Feb. 6th, 2010 inside the Sterling Building from 10:30 a.m to 2 p.m. at 4920 Niagara Rd. College Park, MD 20740, Suite 214.

Senior Managing Partner, Hamza Khan, is currently on hiatus from University of Maryland Baltimore Campus (UMBC) to focus on the opening of this firm. Whereas, other managing partners such as Evan Rosenberg, UMBC '11, David Anguish UMBC '11 and Erich Reimer Johns Hopkins University '12 balance college and work. Recent graduate, Sherryn Daniel, College of Notre Dame of Maryland '09, has said to balance work at the firm and studying for grad school in her free time.

Khan has an extensive resume of community activism, as do partners Reimer and Anguish. Khan consulted the several Iranian dissident organizations this summer, and is the President of the Maryland Federation of College Democrats, an organization he has tripled in size since coming to office. He is also the National Chairman of the Middle Eastern Caucus of College Democrats. Before his political involvement, Khan was an avid interfaith worker in Baltimore, who experimented in using social media to enhance his field work and communications between Israeli Jews and non-Israeli Muslims. Reimer is an experienced youth activist for the Democratic Party and in his hometown of Albany, NY, and Anguish currently is President of the UMBC chapter of College Democrats.

The marriage of community activism and new media consulting is a twist on the traditional political consulting field; and according to the various research studies, it promises to draw more young people into the political spectrum. The political niche within New and Social Media grew ever since President Barack Obama's success story in 2008.
